CHEVY BEAT DIESEL....

Chevrolet India Sales Pvt Ltd is soon launching its hot hatch Beat equipped with a diesel engine. The roaring petrol prices are pushing the buyers for diesel cars. Hence a smart move buy Chevrolet, they have introduced a "SMARTECH" diesel engine. 


 The beat, is perhaps the car which is equipped with the smallest diesel engine in the country. It is a small 3 cylinder engine with a volume of 936cc, producing a respectable 59Bhp and 15.29 kgm of torque. It is boosted by a symmetrical geomerty turbocharger, which is mainly responsible for boosting up the power to 59Bhp. The turbo charger becomes active as the car crosses 1500 rpm mark. The car has good midrange torque uptil 2800 rpm, which will make city driving hassle free. The car will be very well isolated, noise and vibration characteristics are very well, unless you are pushing the car really hard to it limits. This engine is a scaled down unit of the multijet engine that has been jointly developed by Fiat and GM. The fuel economy of the car will give the Swifts and the Indica Vistas and the Figos, a run for their money. Expect the fuel economy in the region of 18-22 kpl bracket or even more, depending on frugal driving habits of the driver, but also do not excpect the quick acceleration of the car as you feel in the Swifts and the Vistas on tapping the the throttle. The car is almost short of 15Bhp compared to the Swift and Vista and 9 Bhp compared to Figo, hence expect quick acceleration from the beat, but certainly not as quick as Swift and Vista.    

Chevrolet has also made a significant change in the car which will be the new gas charged shock absorbers and wider 165/65 R14 tyres. The improvements will make the ride more stable and comfortable. The price is to be in between 4.5 to 5.5 lakh. So beware all you current leaders a new leader is making its way into the market.

RENAULT FLUENCE......

Since its first ever launch in India with Logan, Renault has been struggling to keep the pace with the Indian competition. Logan was unsuccessful to perform well on the sales chart, except impressing a few Cab owners. Renault sold its Logan stake to its collobrater M&M.

Now Renault is back with a bang for a all new start, and as a result we have a new value for money, solid, and striking new sedan the Fluence.


Here is the first glimpse of the car, a true European sedan. Big, heavy and smooth curves. Forget about the Logan, here is what Renault has offered to Indians a true French car which is very much striking and surely is a head turner for the Indian crowd. What still enhances its looks are its dimension which are a notch above its rivals. Renault logo neatly integrated in the body near the hood, and not fitted in the grille like most of the cars. Small yet effective grille combined with a massive bumper. Striking swept back headlamps, and beautiful fog lamps, all together justifies the good looks of the car.




The rear has nothing much to describe for its plain looks, with its long swept tail  lamps, and a large Renault logo and a round sculpted boot lid.

However, french cars and all other European cars like VW, Skoda etc. as we all know are famous for its solid built quality and smooth ride quality, and  Fluence promises the same.All the parameters of a car which provides good handling and ride are tuned to provide the perfect match between ride and handling.The suspension is well tuned, which soaks up most of bumps and offers class leading ride quality. The steering is very lite thus city driving for this car is a breeze, however the big dimensions, big turning radius will make some difficulties. Renault fluence offers excellent ride and handling characteristics. The car feels very smooth and stable at any speed


The Indian Fluence will feature same interior design, however equipment level might differ from European model. The design is pretty plain with a bit of sporty touch. The steering wheel feels very chunk and nice to hold. There's a digital speedometer, which only Honda Civic of the same segment share. There's also a analogue tachometer and a trip computer for calculating distance to empty, average speed, fuel consuption etc.The music system sits pretty low and can be difficult to operate.
Space is huge for all five passengers, with enough headroom, legroom and knee room. The trunk space is around 520lts making it on par with its European rivals.

Coming on to the Engine, Renault has played a smart game by keeping the diesel variant cheap with minimum features, and by keeping the petrol vaiant feature loaded and expensive. With a steep rise in the pertol prices, it is obivous that diesel cars is going to be the first choice of car owners. Renault has made its diesel variant cheaper so that more owners are tempted to buy it becuase of the cheaper diesel price.


The Diesel motor is the same motor that powers the Renault Logan( now Mahindra Verito), the good old 1.5liter engine, but it is upgraded with a Variable Geometry Turbo(VGT) charger which pumps up the power from 68 Bhp to 105 Bhp. The engine is very quiet, and feels very smooth uptil the red line. Expect less turbo lag but bad low end grunt. The fuel economy is expected to be exceptional with a factory figure of 21 kpl. The transmission is six speed manual. 

The petrol Engine is 2.0liter engine which produces 135 bhp. It has a CVT transmission and no manual option, this variant has all the goodies including rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, on board computer, leather seats, and dual zone climate control air conditioning.

The pricing is Rs 13 lakh for the diesel variant and Rs 14.5 lakh for the petrol engine. Renault is a new company and will be making a  investment of  Rs 4500 crore near Chennai for manufacturing facility. Their are limited number of dealership in the country.The list is as follows.

INDIA'S FORMULA 1 CIRCUIT .....

Yes, India is rising and rising fast. With the likes of, Force India F1 team of Dr.Vijay Mallya, Mahindra participating in Moto GP , also with F1(Formula 1) drivers like Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok, India has proved its worthiness with participation in International Motorsport events.Now India is ready with its Formula 1 racing circuit.The Circuit is named as BUDDH INTERNATIONAL CIRCUITThe circuit is situated at Gautam Buddh nagar in Greater Noida region near New Delhi. According to MR. Sameer Gaur, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Jaypee Sports International, the circuit has been named after the inspirational Lord Gautam Buddha, and also the Gautam buddh nagar where the circuit is demographically located.

Here is the official logo of the circuit.The circuit is developed in 2500 acres of land, and is a part of The Jaypee's Green Sports city. Sources have claimed that it will be the second fastest circuit in the world after Monza Circuit. The circuit will be 5.4 kms long and it will have 16 bends(turns).The highest elevated point is at 14 meters from base and the width of the track is between 18 to 20 meters.Top speed for an F1 Car will be around 320 KM/HR and the approximate time required to complete one lap of the circuit will be 1min 27sec. 


The circuit is designed by the a famous German Architect Herman Tilke, who has also designed for Chinese circuit.The circuit will cost around  40 billion rupees. The provision for the audience stand will be around 110,000 people. The circuit will be hosting its first race at 30th of October for the first Indian Grand Prix.

NEW FORD FIESTA.......

Ford Fiesta as we all know has been a major success in the country, the car has been doing good in the sales chart as soon as it was launched in the country.Its younger sibling the Figo, has also proved its worthiness by striking with a sales of 7000 units in the very first month of its launch, and it is doing great with the sales currently.Keeping this success in mind, Ford India will launch all new Fiesta in a few months.Ford India will be launching many new models for the Indian models in the coming years.



Here is the first glimpse of the new sedan. It is a futuristic design as we have look, the headlamps are swept back, the twin pod lamps, a massive grille in the bumper.The headlamps are sharply designed to enhance the looks.The rear looks like a notchback rather than a sedan. The tail lamps are very well designed, with a part of it integrated into boot lid.



A very strong point for Ford has been its ability to make the handling and the ride up to date, this has been a major factor for the success for the ford cars.The ride and handling of Ford cars are by far the best among their segment. Except the ride quality and handling to be top notch, in this Ford as well. The suppleness of the ride is due to the 195/65 R15 tyres which are big enough for car of its size.



The new Fiesta has a completely new interior design, it is well built, looks beautiful, and its equipped with lots of new features.Automatic climate control air-conditioning, multi information system, steering mounted audio controls, bluetooth enabled audio system, rear parking sensors, a fully integrated trip computer and a big display screen,and last but not the least voice command control for audio and air conditioning. These are only a few examples of new Fiesta. The materials seems to be of very good quality, and the cabin feels long lasting. The plastic feels really hard and feels solid. The steering feels very nice to hold  and gives a very chunky feeling because of its small size. The seats are well blostered and give you a feelinf of getting absorbed into lap of comfort. The interior space is good, the front seats have ample leg and knee room, while the rear seats have decent leg room with two six footers can easily accomodated in the front and the rear row back to back. The electronic power steering is though the best in the segment, but is smooth and light enough to tackle city traffic. Ford has really offered fantastic features for these car and which are hard enough to find in any other car of its segment.




Ford will be offering two engine options, petrol and diesel. A 1.5 ltr duratorq engine with 90Bhp on tap will be good enough with the competiton, and also certainly better than the 68Bhp engine which is currently in the old ford Fiesta.
A 1.5ltr speced version producing 107Bhp will be offered, which is again on par with competition, but produces significantly less power than the Honda city(118Bhp) and the new Hyundai Verna(122Bhp) but is higher than  Maruti Suzuki Sx4(104Bhp) and VW Vento(105Bhp). However that doesn't matter much, as Ford has integrated many of cutting edge technologies into its car. Like, have you ever experienced a sudden drag of the car when you overtake a loaded truck, now you wont be experiencng that, the reason behind is a directionally stable steering technology in the steering system, which compensates the drag and maintain the stability of the car and also its path. The body is made up of specialized steel metal, keep the car stable at all speeds. The engine is very smooth and remains the same till the red line of 6000 rpm. You will notice the needle reaching 100km/hr in 10 sec vicinity.


Safety is amongst the best in the segment, with ABS(Anti-lock Braking System)(http://harshcar.blogspot.com/search?q=anti-lock+braking+system), EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distributon) and two airbags as standard of all the variants, Ford has provided with the best safety features.


The new Fiesta will be in the Upper 'C' segment, consisting of cars like Honda City, VW Vento. The price of the Fiesta is likely to be a little cheaper than the current leader Honda City.If priced right the car will make wonders to Ford. The new model will be sold along with the current model, and the current model will be named Fiesta Classic. The basic models will start from Rupees 9.5 lakhs onroad for the petrol model and will go upto Rupees 11.9 lakhs for the top end diesel model. The bookings have opened from 14th of July 2011.

HONDA BRIO.........

India, the seventh largest automotive market after China, Japan, Usa, Germany, South Korea and Brazil.It is one of the most competitive markets around the globe.Nowadays, automotive companies are putting up new models in their showrooms and implementing new strategies to hold their market share against their rivals. Maruti Suzuki launched the SX4 diesel in the market to give a boom to its slow moving Sedan and also launched its CNG variant  with the growing prospects of CNG.Now its time for Honda to enter a new segment, which it had not entered till now. Honda is about to launch a new hatchback- BRIO a car in upper B segment(Indica vista, Micra, Swift).Honda has new hopes with this car, as it entering a segment which the most competitive amongst all.



Here is the first glimpse of the car, a typical odd ball japanese design. Brio is not designed with european influence in mind which most of the car makers do today.The car looks very cute and cudly even though it measures as big as its rivals.


The rear design of the car may not appeal to all, with sharply shaped tail-lamps, and a rear windscreen almost digging into the bottom of the car. However the design is quite creative and hasn't been noticed in any other Indian car. A larger rear wind screen will enhance the rear visibility of the car.


Accessibility to rear trunk space has been provided by opening the rear wind screen rather than the rear hatch door, reminds me of the first generation Maruti 800. The above picture suggests that the car has a good wide body design, which will improve the high speed stability of Brio.


The interior again seems to be a different but a new design. The dashboard design is some what unergonomic. The stereo system is placed far from the driver which can be difficult to operate. The second AC vent from left is directed more towards the front passenger than to the center of the cabin, so cooling might be nonuniform. The AC control are set low but are easy to operate as they are in reach of the driver.

However space within the cabin has been cleverly used in the Brio.There are lots of small spaces to store goods. The glove box seems to be big, to store stuff. The space seems to be comfortable for 5 abreast.

Honda will probably use the same engine that is used in the Jazz, the 1.2ltr SOHC 16 valve engine which produce 90(bhp) and 116NM of torque.This engine is a gem in terms of refinement and design.Normally 1.2ltr petrol engine produces 75-80(bhp), but this(Jazz) engine produces 10bhp more in the same volume of the engine.Maruti Suzuki will probably launch its new Swift with a new 1.2ltr K-series engine which will produce around 94(bhp). The current swift produces 84(bhp).

Honda is all geared up to launch its new vehicle with a price tag around 4.5 lakh rupees.The pictures and photos are of prototype vehicle. The company might incorporate new things, along with some changes to make the new model more tempting.

NEW HYUNDAI SONATA 2011..........

Hyundai motors India limited will be launching the all-new Sonata soon. After the Mercedes-Benz controversy long back, Sonata has not done  well on sales chart. With the newer and much advanced version Hyundai will hope to make good sales this time.

 The exact information on the Indian model is still pending.The Indian model is under test and has been named i45, the testing model is seen somewhere near the Hyundai Motor's Chennai plant.


 The car keeps a striking pose upfront, with long swept back headlamps of  projector type, dipping into the bumper  at the other end looks very niche.The chrome fed grille with a Hyundai logo is simply eye-catching.The integrated signal lamps in the mirror looks good.Windscreen pillars are very ell molded to give the new Sonata a aerodynamic and a modern look.The grille and the bumper design makes the "V" shape at the front end.Hyundai sonata has always been considered a cheaper and a slow alternative to the likes of Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. This time Hyundai is keen to establish its contender as a leader.It has designed the car to look and perform better than its rivals.


 The rear has sleek looks, with sharply shaped tail lamps sweeping back to the side looks brilliant and the chrome trunk lid, reflectors in the bumper gives the vow factor.



 The curvy rear windscreen pillar looks distinctive. The curvy structure of the pillars both upfront and the rear suggest that the drag force on the car will be minimal, thus enhancing fuel efficiency and looks.


Interiors are very luxurious, and the design is very fresh. You won't find any bits carried over from the old Sonata.The cabin feels very upmarket, and the interior materials are of very good quality, a typical Hyundai. 


 The new Sonata has all the goodies which the luxury car has. GPS navigation, traction control system, airbags, brake assist, and many more. However it is uncertain that all the features provided in the American Sonata would come to Indian model.


Space will not be a constraint in the Sonata, as shown above the rear passenger will have huge leg room and knee room, so will the front passengers have.The rear AC vents will also be helpful in keeping the mind and the body of rear passengers cool.There are lot of small utility holes in the doors and the cabin to store stuff. 


Hyundai might offer two engine options, a 2.4ltr 198bhp petrol engine and 2.2ltr 194bhp diesel engine.The diesel engine is the same which is in the Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai has planned to launch the car in end 2011, and will be priced around 17lakh rupees.

CHEVY CRUZE HATCHBACK.............................

 ALL NEW CHEVY CRUZE HATCHBACK………

   Chevrolet has disclosed the official pictures of its all new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback. This all new chevy baby will be launched at the coming Geneva motor show, which will be held next week.


The front stance reveals that no cosmetic changes have been made to the car. The width and the height of the car have remained unchanged. The length is supposed to have shortened by almost 250mm.


 The rear stance of the car is new. New tail lamps,new notch back styled rear hatch door, and new bumpers with integrated number plate. The car looks very upmarket and desirable from all the aspects.The wheelbase looks the same as the cruze sedan and so do not any compromise in space in the car.The trunk is expected near 400lts, which is almost as good as sedans. Cruze hatchback will be available in 4 new engine options, which includes the current 2.0ltr diesel engine running the Cruze.Chances for a 1.8ltr petrol powered engine is also possible.


Cruze hatch is expected in to hit the international showrooms by this summer, however their are no news for launch of the car in the Indian market.Chevrolet has already already tried this strategy of launching the hatchback version of its sedan in the form of SR-V(Chevrolet Optra), but has been very successful.Hope Cruze makes this strategy successful for Chevrolet.

BMW X1................

BMW(BAVARIAN MOTOR WORKS) as we all know, is famous for its performance oriented cars, recently rolled out its cheapest car in the Indian market the X1. X1 has been launched with a basic price of Rs 22lakh which makes it cheaper than Honda CR-V and many other similar vehicles.BMW will be assembling its X1 in the Chennai facility, thus as mentioned earlier custom duty will be levied only on certain imported parts.As a result the car comes with a astonishing price tag.

  • EXTERIOR

The new BMW baby preety much looks like a traditional BMW car.Twin kidney shaped grille, twin barrel headlamps and huge square shaped wheel arches give the X1 a typical BMW look.However there are few new bits included in the car like,heavily sculpted bonnet can be observed through a bulge in the center of the bonnet, and splitter in the front gives the car more squarish look. Dimensionally the car is proportionately longer and wider rather than being taller, which gives the X1 a more Station wagon rather than SUV look.

The rear of X1 is simple but quite BMW like with sharp L shaped tail lamps, a downward slopping roof.Only one exhaust pipe available on the X1. 

Basically, the X1 is built on a 3 series estate(Example Indigo Marina) version platform and is differently tuned for off-roading purpose.A high ground clearance of 194mm, a long wheel base of 2760mm, and a different body style are the parameters which separates the X1 from the 3 series.  
  • INTERIOR




In the interiors, many familiar bits are carried over from the 3 series.The steering wheel,gear lever,the center console and the seats are the same as they are used in the 3 series, but it doesn't really matter when the quality of the material is just perfect. The new bits includes a more curvy dashboard, new angular designed vents and some pieces of faux wood.However some parts of the dashboard like glove box, door pads ,handle bars are disappointing for the material quality.Overall ,material quality is impressive and the cabin feels solidly built and feels like BMW standard.The higher end version  comes with a BMW i Drive system, while the lower spec version comes with a single CD changer with aux and USB interface.

The front seats are very generous and are very comfortable.It provides excellent comfort and space for the front passenger.The road vision from the raised cabin height is very good, and the front seats arrangement gives a optimized driving position.There are lots of storage spaces upfront, and lots of small cubby holes for small storage bits. 


The rear space is very disappointing, with three persons seating abreast, the rear seats feels cramped and uncomfortable. The floor is not flat in the middle row due the car being a rear wheel drive(power transmitted to rear wheels) and the intrusion of the transmission system.The important priority has been given to the drive line as it being a SUV.


The trunk space is a reasonable 420 liters without the seats folded.The X1 has  a very unique seating arrangement in the form of 40:20:40, which is a first in any Indian car.The seats can be folded in the above mentioned configuration for added flexibility.The front seats are powered and has 3 configuration seat memory.   
  • ENGINE, PERFORMANCE & GEARBOX
The X1 has two engine options, a 4 Cylinder, 16 valve, Dual overhead camshaft, 1995cc common rail direct injection diesel engine, producing a healthy 177Bhp and 35.69 kg-m of torque. The engine is straight over carried from the very popular 3 series a.k.a 320d. However even though the engine is same, the insulation is less compared to 320d, the engine makes noticeable noise till it gets warm, and there is a slight feeling of lag when u overtake some car or need that extra power when overtaking.


However the performance is good with a strong 100km/hr coming up in 9sec and can reach a maximum speed of 205 km/hr.The transmission is through a six-speed triptronic transmission.The manual mode is more crisp feels better to use than the automatic version.
